Almost every part of a Comandante that can wear or go missing can be bought individually and fitted at your kitchen table. That isn't an afterthought — it's the design brief. Our planet doesn't deserve product obsolescence, and neither do you.
The argument, briefly
Most kitchen equipment is designed to a price and a product cycle. When one small component fails, the whole thing goes in a bin because replacing the component was never part of the plan.
We build the opposite way round. Comandante grinders are manufactured just outside Munich by a small, family-run team, using food-safe materials chosen for how they behave after ten years rather than after ten months. Then — and this is the part that matters — we keep the parts available and the design compatible, so a grinder bought years ago can still be brought back to full health today.
The practical result: your grinder should outlast several of everything else on your worktop.
What you can replace yourself
More or less everything you'd ever need to. All of these fit with no tools beyond your hands, and all of them are in spare parts.

Wooden knobs are a straight push-fit swap too, at £9 — as much a customisation as a repair.
The one thing to leave alone
The three mounting screws around the burr on the base of your grinder. These hold the outer burr ring in alignment with the axle, and each one was set by hand during assembly to calibrate that specific grinder.
Undoing them will throw off the calibration, can damage the grinder, and voids the warranty. Nothing in normal maintenance requires touching them — the full clean and strip-down works entirely without.
Warranty
We design and build these grinders to last, which means we don't expect one to simply fail in normal use. The NITRO BLADE® burr in particular is cut from a high-nitrogen alloy developed specifically to stay sharp for a lifetime of grinding.

Accidents
Warranty covers faults. Accidents are a different matter — grinders get dropped, and a dropped grinder isn't a manufacturing defect.
Which is exactly why the Comandante Repair Service exists. Rather than write off a damaged grinder, it can often be repaired and returned to full working order. Get in touch and describe what happened; more is fixable than people assume.
Compatibility, on purpose
One of the quieter commitments behind all of this: we maintain backwards and cross-compatibility across the range wherever we can.
It means the accessory you buy today still fits the grinder you buy in five years. It means an older C40 can take current parts and current upgrades — an RX35 Red Clix Drivetrain, a different knob, a new crank. And it means a grinder doesn't become obsolete just because a new model exists.
That's a harder way to design products. It's also the only version of "built to last" that actually means anything.
